Adventures in Babywearing

Living in a bustling city, we knew from the get-go that we would have to be a babywearing family.  We want to wear J for many reasons, and one of which is sheer convenience.

We have a very nice Bob jogging stroller that we have used on occasion (and we're really excited to be able to run with him soon), but sometimes the stroller is just too cumbersome to make the outing worthwhile.  Instead, we secure him into our Moby, Baby K'Tan, Ergo, or Baby Bjorn and off we go.  We have been doing this since J's first week home.

Out for a walk when J was 1 week old.

Papas look sexy wearing their babies!

weekly farmer's market trips

There's no easier way to drink a beer than by wearing that babe!

I highly recommend investing in one of these wraps.  Your child will feel secure and happy, and you'll finally be able to get something done around the house or on the town.

Do you wear your baby?  What's your favorite wrap?

I LOVE wearing my son. I have 4 carriers. My latest and favorite is my Boba carrier. It is fantastic. Great for hiking or just shopping at the mall. My husband hasn't worn the baby yet but he said that he would. Just the other day,I asked him if he would wear the baby and he burst out laughing. "WEAR" the baby! He thought it was a term I had just made up. LOL

I love those pics! And it's so fun when people make comments about how cute and comfortable baby looks.

I'm a babywearing consultant, so I have tons of carriers. I honestly couldn't just have one. I mostly use the Maya wrap (ring sling), a woven wrap (Didymos), and the Ergo.

I love the ring sling for quickness, but it wears out my back if I wear it all day. When I have to chase my toddler, I like to wear my baby on my back in a woven wrap, and when they are a little bigger, I like the Ergo (front or back) for quickness and convenience.

We LOVE our Baby K'tan. It's quick/easy and totally soothes him when he's upset. I always knew I'd want to wear him but surprisingly, my husband has really gotten into it to. He'll put him on and go do "man stuff" around the house. He wore him yesterday to the zoo--though, I think it attracts more attention than he'd like :-)

I love babywearing as well, for convenience. We have the Moby, and a Kelty baby-Bjorn-esque carrier that she can go in facing in our out. We just recently got the neck strength to face out! One issue I had while facing in is that she constantly wanted to be in my boobs. It was like having her face pressed up against them reminded her of nursing, so she'd start to fuss, even if I just fed her five minutes ago! I never did figure out how to nurse in the Moby, so that precluded a lot of my wearing it. I need to figure out how to get her facing out in the Moby!

Our favorite is the Baby Becco as it is so comfortable for us! He loves it and it will be nice on our back when he is bigger! Honestly though, our FAV FAV FAV is our Bob! We'd die without it. It's the absolute BEST stroller out there!

I didn't get into babywearing with my son until he was a bit big to carry, but I have a lovely moby wrap this time around that I will be sporting. You got to hold them close to you while they are still young.

By the way congrats on being featured. I'm a new follower from the blog hop.

I just read your beautiful birth story! I am so sorry of the trauma that followed but glad to know you are both happy and well!

Our favorites are the Catbird Baby Pikkolo and a homemade stretchy wrap!

I found that Leila likes the Ergo best! I can put her to sleep without fail while wearing her in it. This reminds me to try her on my back now that she's big enough.

Oh, this brings back memories. My kids are too old (4 and 6 1/2), but I wore them when they were babies. I sometimes miss those times and closeness of having them right there with you.

I am totes into the babywearing. I have a Moby which I love and despite the recommendations I have started wearing Jack in it facing forward so he can see around. My boss said it reminds him of Total Recall where that dude has a little dude coming out of his chest. Awesome. I also have a Baby Bjorn style one (a cheaper version) and an Over the Shoulder Baby Holder. Hahaha. They are all good for different things. The OTSBH is good for quick ins and outs. Like cooking dinner. Just fling it on and stuff baby inside.

This is hilarious! I was a baby wearer but my little man is getting so dang heavy... it hurts my back. We had the Bjorn but my fav was a handmade moby wrap from my talented Momma. Thanks for finding my blog today... I'm following your cute blog now, too. ;)

My hubby and I love wearing the girls. Frees up our hands, makes housework somewhat feasible, etc etc. We used the Moby initially, but found it was just a pain to get them in and out when they needed the boob. We bought a used Ergo...it's nice, but doesn't get much use (again too hard to get them in and out). Found a great seller on Etsy (Babyette), bought two slings, and never looked back. :)

I tried the sling with my first-no go. The Baby Bjorn saved my life when number 2 came!
